I am not sure why I started complimenting … maybe it was the fact that some of my friends were having a hard time finding jobs, maybe it was because I had just finished some tough Calculus homework, maybe it was just the rainy weather. Nonetheless, when Brett presented me with the idea – “Hey Cam, wanna give compliments?” – I was more than enthused. The experience as a "Compliment Guy" has been amazing and has shown me that no matter what else is going on in your own day, it’s so easy and rewarding to brighten someone elses’.

It was just an ordinary Wednesday the first time I went out to give compliments. Just me and a cheap poster board I bought on a hot September day. Did I ever think anything would come of it? Of course not, but little by little our story got out and spread worldwide. Although our story was spreading across the globe, our compliments were still exclusive to Purdue.

Dear our old friend at Purdue,
I hope you will read this in the near future. I would like to start by saying I miss seeing you every week and there is a hole in my Wednesdays now that only you can fill. No matter what the weather, we are always glad to see you cruise by us with your Purdue jacket and Notre Dame hat. Although we haven’t been out to compliment every Wednesday this summer, we are not the least bit rusty. We can still shoot out the compliments at a mile a minute like usual and are heading out to spread the cheer even further.

I cannot wait for the journey to begin! Within the past couple of weeks I have become extremely anxious and antsy. I have even begun packing my bags. The most essential component to this entire trip, which I am convinced I would die without, is my iPod. I listen to just about anything and everything, and I always compliment while listening to music. Another crucial item that I must not forget is my camera. I cannot wait to be able to take pictures at famous landmarks up and down the east coast.

Everyone thinks the Brightside Tour is so cool, even my dog Achilles... but he'll miss me.
